The River Avon at Stratford The Avon winds gently through the town, surrounded on either bank by green parkland and flower filled gardens. The Royal Shakespeare Theatre and Holy Trinity church, containing Shakespeare's tomb, stand amidst the willow trees reflected in its shimmering water. The river flows under two fine old bridges, and over the site of an ancient ford around which the town was founded. The ford gave the town it's name, (street-ford), but Stratford's endearing charm is to be 'upon-Avon'.
Small Boat Hire by the hour (rowing boats, pleasure punts, canoes and rowing boats), including hire of watermen if required; public River Cruises on our large fleet of traditional vessels; Private Charter of passenger boats; hire of our exclusive Venetian Gondola; and Special Packages, or some ideas for fun on the river for small or large groups.
If you are a boat owner, or are in need of some expertise, we run a chandlery at Stratford Marina, along with an outboard sales and service centre. We are also Boat Safety Scheme Examiners and Marine Surveyors for all types of small craft in steel, GRP, and timber. In addition, our busy workshops specialise in the repair and renovation of traditional river craft, and building new commissions.
