In December, 2008, Blackpool Zoo celebrated the arrival of Timber, a baby giraffe, born to Quiver, one of three females which came from Fota Zoo in Southern Ireland. He has joined over 1500 other animals, birds, reptiles and invertebrates including apes, big cats, elephants, camels, sealions and the very unusual aardvarks. New for summer, 2009 are South American Magellanic penguins, the only ones in the UK, which will occupy a brand new enclosure with underwater viewing.

Blackpool Zoo is brilliant, the sea lion part is exceptional along with the trainers, the Zoo is being developed but is great, it is a smaller Zoo so great for smaller kids not so far to walk around, but has everything, we loved it and will go back
