The Exhibition Centre is a vital source of information about the local area. Much of the exhibition concentrates on the history of local quarries. It also examines the way of life of the local people during 200 years of history. Fishing, mining, quarrying and farming were augmented by local men working at sea as deck hands and as officers. Some of the work of sculptor Hideo Furuta is also on display in the Centre.
