We became a cathedral in 1927, and have a special responsibility to support the ministry of Bishop Tim and the work of the Diocese of Leicester. We also retain responsibilities to the local parish including its residents, those who work in this great, diverse city during the day, and the thousands who pass by during the night.
We are a place of quiet prayer for the many who drop in, and a base for outreach into the city and county. Because of Christ's calling to us to go out in his name, we sponsor particular projects working amongst asylum seekers and refugees, with those living with cancer, and a Street Pastor scheme at weekends.
Day by day, and Sunday by Sunday, the Cathedral Community meets here to worship. That is the heartbeat of this place, enabling it to be both a sanctuary and a powerhouse. To enable you to explore the cathedral building and discover something of our life this site has been designed to be as 'user friendly' as possible. Most of the pages will download fairly quickly, although as there are a number of photographs on the 'Tour' page, it will take a little longer before you can view it.
