About Priory Country Park

Priory Country Park is an established green area, of around 360 acres, made up of lakes, meadows and woodland, partially enclosed within a bend in the river Great Ouse.

It is managed, for the benefit of both wildlife and visitors, by Bedford Borough Council as a site for passive recreation, including:

the river, that is about four miles, or just wander and make your own trail.

Visit the Centre with its displays and information, located near the main Barker's Lane entrance car park, open daily. There are free public toilets on the car park end of this centre and additional 'superloos' (a small charge is made) are located in the Barker's Lane main car park and the Cardington Mill car park.

There are large meadows that offer a versatile space for children to play, dogs to run, or just to sit and look at the views without the intrusion of buildings. Take a walk through our Labyrinth or let the children burn off some energy on the play area. Priory Lake offers a bank side walk on an all-weather path that goes all round, giving an easy walk of just over a mile. There is a more secluded walk around the Fingers Lake conservation area, but this trail includes steps and can be muddy at times. There is also a longer walk taking in most of the park, including parts of the river, that is about four miles, or just wander and make your own trail.

Visit the Centre with its displays and information, located near the main Barker's Lane entrance car park, open daily. There are free public toilets on the car park end of this centre and additional 'superloos' (a small charge is made) are located in the Barker's Lane main car park and the Cardington Mill car park.
