The Tower is one of the two round towers of Irish style surviving in Scotland, dating from the end of the 11th century. It is 15ft in diameter at its base and 74ft high. A Pictish symbol stone can be found at the foot of the tower. The stone dates back to around AD600. The carvings on the stone comprise of a decorative tuning fork with a hammer, an anvil and a decorative motif of a crescent and v-rod.
