The Roman Catholic classically styled Brentwood Cathedral incorporates the original Victorian church. Designed by distinguished architect Quinlan Terry with roundels by Ralph Maklouf, it was opened in May 1991 by the Archbishop of Westminster, Cardinal Basil Hume.
The majority of the structure is new, with the oldest part of the site being what is now the Parish Hall. Inside the Cathedral, the clear windows let the light flood in, to be reflected off the white walls and stone floor. The building has become a local landmark.
