Visitors enter the museum through the house next door, going through the museum shop. The house has been laid out in the style of a late 19th century working class house with the furniture being mostly from the family of the women who founded it. There are a few original items from Lawrence's family, however, as is often the case with working class families not much has survived over the time. Visitors are given a guided tour of the house which takes approximately 45 mins. and explained the significance of each room (parlour, kitchen, yard, washroom, parent's bedroom, children's bedroom, attic). There is a small exhibition of Lawrence's early original water colour paintings.
