East Grinstead Town Museum tells the story of our historic market town in the High Weald. Through our collections, we are preserving our past for present and future generations.
Built with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and money raised by the local community, East Grinstead Museum invites you to discover the old market town and surrounding area, through exciting new displays, hands on experiences, inter-actives and audio/visual presentations.
The museum services the people who live in the town and surrounding area and the large number of tourists who visit each year. We have a temporary exhibition area with exhibitions that change three times a year. The interesting and varied permanent displays explore the history of East Grinstead and its surrounding villages. Artefacts, emphemera, memorabilia and images are interspersed with touch screen inter-actives and a specially edited film that brings the past alive. The museum also benefits from a dedicated 'hands on' area, the Curator's Corner, for younger visitors and a dedicated room for researching local history and geneology.
