Fawley Court has a history that dates back to the 11th Century, the current house being designed by the world famous Sir Christopher Wren. It was built in 1683 for Colonel William Freeman as a magnificent Family home. The breathtaking carved ceiling in the Drawing Room, a work by Grinling Gibbons from 1690, is one of only three in the country to survive to the present day.
The House is maintained to a high standard today by the Congregation of the Marian Fathers. It houses a museum and a library, these including early manuscripts, old Papal and Polish historical documents as well as a collection of European, Far and Middle Eastern militaria and arms.
Fawley Court is a unique surviving example of a Wren country house set on the banks of the Thames nestling in beautiful parkland that has remained unchanged for 150 years.
