The house and gardens are open to the public on specific afternoons between Easter and the end of August .
Fursdon is one of Devon's oldest family homes. 23 generations of the family have lived on this site. 2009 marks the 750th anniversary of the family's ownership.
The house has evolved from a three room cross passage cob and thatch dwelling to the elegant manor house you see today. A tour of the house reflects these changes and the fluctuating fortunes of a family steeped in the tradition of land ownership and farming. You will see rooms, all of which are in use by the present family, dating from different periods in history.
Visits to Fursdon House are always by guided tour -as it is a family home as well as a place of interest.
Your experienced guide will offer you an insight into the life and times of the squires of Fursdon and their families.
