Vast area of outstanding walking country. The High Peak stretches from the heather-clad moors of Park Hall to the gritstone of Derwent Edge, and from the peat bogs of Bleaklow to the limestone crags of Winnats Pass. The wild Pennine moorlands are of international importance for their populations of breeding birds, including golden plover, merlin and red grouse.
