Kirkleatham Museum is the local history museum for the Borough of Redcar & Cleveland. It was opened on 5th October 1981, after the rationalisation of the Museums Service. The Service was originally based at the Chapel Beck Gallery, Guisborough and the Redcar Museum of Shipping and Fishing, now the Zetland Museum on the seafront in Redcar.
