The birthplace of Sir William Alexander, James VI's Lieutenant for the Plantation of Nova Scotia. An exhibition in the Nova Scotia Commemoration Room tells the story of this ill-fated scheme. Although it's not a Trust property, the Trust worked closely with the then Clackmannanshire County Council to save the castle from demolition.
