The Old Guildhall Museum and Gaol is housed in a magnificent, ancient building which is one of the oldest in Looe Town. It began life as a single storey Guild hall, in 1450, built to serve the citizens of Looe and it is founded on sand. People come from far and wide to trace their family trees. We have access to many documents, registers and censuses and the services of a genealogist who is willing to undertake commissions to research family histories.
