Tate Britain is the national gallery of British art. The collection contains British art from the year 1500 to the present day plus some international modern art. Famous artists whose work you will see include Stubbs, Francis Bacon, Henry Moore, Gainsborough and particular attention is given to Blake, Turner and Constable who have dedicated spaces allocated for their work.
The latest in contemporary art is also on display through the Art now programme and with works by artists short listed for the Turner Prize.
There is a continuous programme of temporary exhibitions and although entry is free to the Galleries there may occasionally be a charge for exhibitions.
For families there are a range of activities for both parents and children to explore.
