The Teifi Valley Railway is a narrow-gauge tourist railway located at Henllan, about four miles to the east of Newcastle Emlyn on the Carmarthen and Ceredigion borders.
Our trains stop at Pontprenshitw on the way back from Llandyfriog Riverside, so that our visitors can walk down to the 'celtic leat' in the gorge, and admire the bridge above that they have just travelled over.
The bridge is 80 feet high and a notice-board back at Henllan station shows how the wooden scaffolding was erected in order to build the bridge in 1897. This wooden scaffolding is what gives the place its name "Pontprenshitw" meaning Bridge (Pont) - Wooden (Pren) - Shaky (Shitw)
