The Lindisfarne Centre is the place to explore the wonderful heritage of Holy Island. Attractions include an opportunity to discover the beautiful Lindisfarne Gospels which were written on the island in 698 AD. Using 'touchscreen' technology supplied by the British Library you can turn the pages and learn about how and why the book was made.
Witness the horror of the first Viking attack on England in 793AD - the impact of which left a mark on all of England. The story is told in interactive displays, games and exhibits including a DVD narrated by television's Julian Richards of Blood of the Vikings.
Learn about the people and natural heritage of the island - and the golf course we used to have!
The centre is owned and operated by a community trust and all profits from the centre and the gift shop are used to support projects on the island.
