Winderwath is a garden of five acres originally laid out at the beginning of the twentieth Century. The mature trees including Wellingtonia, Cut Leaf Beech and Cedar, date from this time. Extensive work has been carried out on the rockeries and herbaceous borders since the 1950s. More recently the pond area has been opened up. There is now a large collection of Alpine and Himalayan plants, including Arisaema and Moconopsis. There are many rare and unusual perennials including a good display of Salvias. We are well known for the display of Aconites and Daffodils in the Spring. There is a working vegetable garden in the Edwardian walled garden with apricots, nectarines and peaches in the greenhouses.A selection of plants grown are for sale and we also sell second-hand garden tools. There are picnic tables round the pond area where you are welcome to enjoy a quiet lunch.
