About Woodgate Valley Country Park

Woodgate Valley Country Park is an area of countryside in the centre of Bartley Green and Quinton. It is an ideal place to go for a leisurely walk, observe wildlife, walk the dog, ride on a horse or it can simply be a great place to get away from the noise and traffic of the city. Information on walks and wildlife can be collected from the Visitor Centre.
The park comprises 450 acres of many different habitats. There are many mixed, mature hedgerows, species rich meadows, woodland, small ponds and the Bourn brook running through its heart. Originally a mosaic of farms and smallholdings the park has retained much of its rural character. Just a short walk or drive from Woodgate are other sites that are all worth a visit in their own right and present their own unique habitats.
Woodgate valley appears to be a natural site with grassy meadows and wooded slopes. However this area has a long and varied history of mans influence on the land which dates back as far as the Bronze Age.
