Hoober Stand, with its base standing 518 feet above sea level, commemorates the quelling of the Jacobite Rebellion in 1745.
It consists of a triangular tower 85 feet high, surmounted by a flat platform with a parapet and a hexagonal domed cupola off centre which provided a roof over the spiral staircase, bringing the total height to almost 100 feet.
