The creator of Peter Pan, novelist and dramatist J M Barrie, was born here in 1860, one of a handloom weaver's ten children. The outside wash house was his first theatre.
The house next door, No. 11, is home to an imaginative exhibition about Barrie's life and works, as well as a garden with a living-willow crocodile.
2010 marked the 150th anniversary of J M Barrieās birth, and the museum has been re-presented to pay homage to the adult author and playwright. For the first time, a manuscript of Peter Pan, personal memorabilia and the Barrie family christening gown were all presented on display.
